Illinois

Illinois is the state that we live in.  Illinois was the twenty-first state in the United States.  It became a state on December 3, 1818.  Its abbreviation is IL.  Our state capital is Springfield.  Springfield is the third state capital we have had.  The first was in Kaskaskia, and the second was in Vandalia.  The state capital building is still in Vandalia.  Illinois has some major industries that include cattle, mining, and crops.  The crops include corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, barley, and rye.  Illnois is known as the praire state.  It is the fifth largest state in population.  Its population as of 2000 was 12,419,293.  That is really all the exciting things about Illinois.
