Michigan

Michigan is a state that has two parts.  The main part is called the lower peninsula and the island right above it is the upper peninsula.  Michigan is surrounded by the five Great Lakes.  They include Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario.  The state of Michigan was named after Lake Michigan. The name mishigama came from the Ojibwe meaning "large water" or "large lake".  Michigan was the 26th state to become part of the United States.  It was admitted on January 26th, 1837.  It is the 11th biggest state.  The capital of Michigan is Lansing and its largest city is Detroit.  Eminem is from here! yay! greatest rapper ever!!  Some of Michigans major industries are car manufacturing, farming, and fishing.  While Michigan ranks first among the states in production of motor vehicles and parts, it is also a leader in many other manufacturing and processing lines, including prepared cereals, machine tools, airplane parts, refrigerators, hardware, and furniture.  There is a college in Michigan that I would like to go to.  It is called Oakland University.  It is located in the lower peninsula on the far east coast.  The volleyball coach has seen me play and liked what he saw.  I hope to visit there soon!
